Hello! My name is Naisha Lyons. I am currently teaching kindergarten at an elementary school in Jacksonville, Florida. I teach all the content areas in my classroom. I am entering my third year of teaching. My school is a STEM magnet school. Over the last couple of years we have been trying to find ways to get the STEM part of our school in full effect. I am very excited for the upcoming school year and all the ideas our new principal has in mind. I will be attending a STEM conference in Boston with my principal and 2 other people from my school at the end of July. Some things I love about teaching science is that science is everywhere. I love that science covers many different topics and ideas. The students always enjoy science and we have a great time learning all aspects of it. Going into the future, I would like to allow my students more opportunities to experience science hands on. Being in a kindergarten classroom, many of the experiments provided to us call for the students to observe the experiment. I would like science going forward to be more student-driven.

Something interesting about me is that I live in Florida and I do not like to swim. However, I do enjoy going to the beach and the pool when I have free time. I plan on working on this in between classes this summer!
